Breast Cancer Care

Always on the look out for inventive ways to captivate guests and boost fundraising at glamorous evening events, Breast Cancer Care employed IML’s Silent Auction technology for its high entertainment value and proven ability to dramatically increase bidding activity.

Event

More than 1,000 dinner guests used IML’s keypads to bid on silent auction lots during the recent Breast Cancer Care high-profile fashion show, held at London’s Park Lane Grosvenor House Hotel.

Guests used IML’s Communicator keypads to scroll through the auction lots and select the item they wanted to bid on. The Communicator displayed the current highest bid for each lot, alongside a brief description of the item to ensure that guests were bidding on the lot they wanted.

Once guests had entered their bids into the Communicator, they instantly received a message confirming that they held the highest bid. Other guests’ keypads were then automatically updated to display the new leading bid.

IML’s Communicator keypads enabled guests to monitor their lots and re-bid on items without having to leave their seats. This convenience, combined with the immediacy of the technology, encouraged competitive bidding amongst guests, thereby increasing the value of the lots and the revenue raised for Breast Cancer Care.

The excitement generated in the final few seconds before the close of the silent auction, saw rapid bidding amongst guests determined to win their desired lots.

Silent Auction technology proved a resounding success for Breast Cancer Care, helping the charity to raise an incredible £40,000 from the Silent Auction alone.

Event outcome

Breast Cancer Care achieved a very high return on investment from IML’s Silent Auction technology which was a massive hit amongst guests, who had great fun entering into the spirit of competitive bidding.

Identification

Bidding guests were identified using IML’s Smartcard technology.

Prior to the auction, guests were issued with personal Smartcards that stored their identity. Guests were linked to their bids simply by inserting their Smartcard into any Communicator keypad.
